Lord God of all eternity,
Who dwells in the highest heaven,
Thy mercies fill the earth.
Though You live in a holy place high above the earth,
You care about flesh and blood,
Who dwells in a sin-filled world,
Where death has established its dominion.
Who can fathom the depth of your love, O Lord?
You so loved the sons of men,
That You sent your Son Jesus Christ to ransom them.
In humility and love He came as a servant
And took upon Himself the sins of many.
He took off the burden of the weary;
He rekindled the spirit of the humble;
He breathed new life into the contrite heart.
Christ came to ransom the meek
And give peace to the outcasts.

What are the sons of men, my Lord,
That You care for them?
What are the sons of men, O Holy One,
That You gave your life to ransom them?
You freed them from captivity to sin and death,
And saved them from the wrath to come.
O Lord, what are the sons of men,
That You died as their substitute on Calvary?
You have clothed us with your pure garment,
Given us your own peace,
And crowned us with life.
You are our victory over sin,
Our shield against the sting of death,
The Way to the Throne of Grace.
We were prisoners of pride,
Groaning under the weight of our sins,
Groping about in the darkness,
Without hope nor life.
O Lord, nothing to You we bring.
But in You, joy, peace, hope and life are found.
Your mercy is from everlasting to everlasting.
Lord, You are the Life-giving Water,
The Ransom for the meek.
You have given us hope and life.
We were unable to atone for our sins;
But in humility and love,
You came and offered Yourself
As a propitiation for our sins.
From glory to humiliation
You ransomed our souls,
And gave us a new birth and a new life.
To You, O Lord, be all glory, thanks, honour and dominion for ever and ever!
Amen.
