THE LORD ALONE IS GOD
Lord, You frustrate the signs of the babblers
And drive diviners mad.
You turn wise men backward
And make foolishness their knowledge,
Those who provoke You to jealousy with false gods,
Those who provoke your anger with abominations.
They feed on ashes.
Their conduct shall fall on their heads;
They shall be disgraced all of them.
In You, O Sovereign Lord,
We have our righteousness and strength.
In your tender mercies we glory.
You have declared the end from the beginning,
From ancient times things that are not yet done.
Your counsel stands and You do all your pleasure.
Their foolishness have warped them.
They stoop under the burden of their wickedness,
Those who turn away from the Lord.
They sleep in torment.
At your hand they shall drink the cup of your fury;
They will get drunk, but not of wine.
For your wrath shall be their drink forever.

You have made bare your holy arm;
All the nations are seized with fear and anguish
At the sight of your might and glory.
They are seeking death to hide them
From your holy and righteous wrath.
But torment and misery scream out loud.
They gnash their teeth in horror.
But those who bear your vessels, O Lord,
Break forth into joy and sing your praise.
For You guard them on every side,
You shield them against the sting of death.
Death is no more,
The days of our mourning are ended,
Cry and sorrow are put to sleep.
Never shall they rise again
Into the hearts of your chosen ones.
In peace and joy we shall live with You forever.
Your justice is the light of the sons of men.
Though we deserve wrath and death,
You have restrained your anger from us.
You decided not to cut us off;
For your tender mercies and grace know no end.
You gave Yourself as a covenant to the sons of men,
To restore the earth and to cause them
To inherit everlasting glory.
You have removed our shackles.
Out of the darkness You have taken us.
The light of your countenance shines upon us.
We feed on abundant blessings,
And rest under the shadow of your hand,
Sheltered from the heat of the day,
Where hunger and thirst we know no more.
For You lead us by the springs of water.
O King of Peace!
You shall bring fear upon the nations.
They shall shut their boastful mouths at You
At the sight of your revealed glory.
But no weapon formed against your own shall prosper;
No terror or fear shall come near them.
They shall not be ashamed who wait for the Lord.
