THE LIGHT OF MEN
 
To You, O Lord, be glory forever and ever!
For you have revealed to us your salvation.
Because of your tender mercy,
The Sunrise has visited us from on high,
The Great Light has dawned on us.

We were bound in darkness,
Groping in the shadow of death.
But You, O Lord, sent the Light to set us free
And to guide our feet into the Way of peace.
The Lord our salvation is his name forever.
He has enabled us to serve You without fear,
In holiness and righteousness all our days.
 
Blessed be the Lord our God!
For He has purchased the redemption of his people.
The Lord our Redeemer is his name from everlasting.
He fills the hungry with good things,
But the rich He sends away empty.
 
The Lord remembers his people,
He keeps his promises because He is faithful.
He brings down the mighty from their thrones
And exalts those of humble estate.
He reveals the strength of his arm
And brings down to the earth the strength of the proud.
 
Your mercy, O Lord, is for those who fear You.
Generation after generation,
You allow us to dwell in the bosom of your glory.
With confidence we draw near to the Throne of grace.
For You, O God, are the Founder of our salvation,
Our refuge in the midst of tempest,
Our stronghold against the forces of darkness,
Our Deliverer from the sting of death.
 
You give us mercy and grace in time of need.
Mighty are the works of your hand, O Lord,
And holy is your name forever!
Direct our hearts to your love, O Lord.
Show us more of your glory,
And preserve our souls from the deceitfulness of sin.
Grant us more grace, O Lord,
That we shall bear fruit for your glory,
And testify of your greatness and goodness.
 
Be exalted, my God!
For You are the Light of men,
The Source of our eternal salvation.
