Christian Living & Sexual Sins

Any immoral sexual act is a sin against your body. It is written, “Any other sin a man commits does not affect his body; but the man who is guilty of sexual immorality sins against his own body” (1 Corinthians 6:18). Immoral sexual acts such as fornication, homosexuality, adultery and any other unnatural use of sex are sins. Such acts defile the body and subdue it to the law of sin and death.

We must live to please God, not to please ourselves. For the Lord created us in his own image, for his own glory, and the body of a believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We must use our bodies in a way that brings glory to God not to ourselves. “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). Therefore, the indulgence in immoral sexual acts is a sin against God.

Anyone who practices sexual immorality is a self-worshipper, an idolater. They worship themselves instead of worshipping God. God does not tolerate any rival. Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation and therefore must live for Christ, not for self. You cannot be a pervert and still be pleasing to God. You cannot use your body for self-worshipping and claim to be of God. "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God" (Romans 8:5-8).

We have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ, not to pursue the desires of the flesh, but for a life of righteousness, a life pleasing to God.   “So then, brothers (Verse 9-14), we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

So abstain from sexual immorality, discipline your body and pursue holiness. Do not let your sinful desires control you. Anyone who is sexually perverted destroys his own soul and paves his way to hell. As the Scripture says: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the Kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Use your body to glorify God, for you were created for this purpose. Honour the Lord and be faithful to Him. Keep yourself pure for Christ, and his Spirit will lead you and sanctify you. And on the Day of Judgement you will appear blameless before the Throne of grace, in order to receive your share of glory.

Do not seek carnal pleasures, rather seek the Kingdom of God. The destiny of those who are controlled by their natural desires is death. But those who are led by the Spirit of God receive life and peace. These are found in Christ alone.

Do you thirst for life and peace? Cling to Christ, offer yourself to Him as a living sacrifice and serve Him with devotion. Be obedient and faithful to Christ. Think of Him in everything you do. He is the Life-giving Water. In Revelation 21:6-8, the Lord says, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
